Hi there! I am Rebecca Scharlach and I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Platform Governance, Media, & Technology Lab, ZeMKI, University of Bremen.

My research studies digital societal transformation through normative concepts. It is organized around three interrelated dimensions: the politics of technological advancements; the relational structures shaping digital societies; and future imaginaries negotiating power structures.

I am leading the research project “Values-based Governance: European Approaches to AI Regulation”, which is funded by the Central Research Unit of the University of Bremen.

I am also a member of the 2025–2027 executive board of the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR).
